f8-lite theme home page issues

I’ve been working with the f-8 lite theme as I am a photographer and this one had the gallery feature I was looking for an a pleasant interface. Everything works, except:

1) The large images on the home page do not show up at all. This is the “slideshow” that should be coming up. I followed the extremely bried instructions that came with the theme that only said “create a folder called “slideshow” in the f-8 theme folder and put 4 images in it named image1.jpg, image2.jpg, image3.jpg, and image4.jpg.” I did that and nothing happens.

2) Posts that have images are supposed to have a thumbnail image on the home page along with their short blurb. I get the blurb and the link to the main post, but no image. I am using the gallery feature to post multiple images in a post as in the sample online but it doesn’t work as in the sample.

If anyone else has had these issues, please help if you can.
