Extra Images in Uploads Folder

    Hi,
    I am almost finished my first WordPress website and have a problem.
    I see that the wp-uploads folder became huge(2GB). When I checked I found that the theme script created 14 different sizes for each image I uploaded.
    Is it safe to delete these extra images?
    I want to be sure that my web site will be still responsive, after I
    will delete these images.
