Today I installed the plugin to a live site and exported the site.

I created a new WP site to work on a new design. After installing the plugin to the new site I attempted to import the newly exported fie. This error message popped up.

“Version 2.1.1 of All in One WP Migration introduces new compression algorithm. It makes exporting and importing 10 times faster.
Unfortunately, the new format is not back compatible with backups made with earlier versions of the plugin.
You can either create a new backup with the latest version of the plugin, or convert the archive to the new format using our tools here.”

Earlier version? I just installed the same versions to both the new and old sites. What’s up.

    Thanks.

    Pat

    Hi Pat,

    Thank you for reaching out.
It seems like the file you are trying to upload is not .wpress.
Could you make sure that it is the one exported by the same version of the plugin as you are using on this site?

Pim, Thanks for the quick response.

Is there a setting I need to set when exporting the file using the export function in All-in-One WP Migration to make sure the export comes out as a .wpress. Right now it is a regular .tar document.

    Thanks,

    Pat

    You are very welcome, Pat.
That sounds very strange though – the plugin creates .tar backup.
You do not have to set anything on export.
Could you login via FTP, download the backup from wp-content/ai1wm-backups and let me know if it is .wpress or .tar?

The one in the wp-content folder is a .wpress. I am downloading it now.

It’s downloaded. Should I now upload the .wpress file to the new site?

    Thanks,

    Hi Pat,

Yes, .wpress is a correct backup and you should upload it on a new site.

Thanks for your help. It’s not gong to work anyway. I went to upload it but the file is too big. I’d love to pay you the $59 for the premium, but my site is not a money maker so I’ll have to pass for now.

    Thanks again!

Hi, I checked the wpcontents in teh old site where i have taken the back up the file is.zip

    (@pimjitsawang)

    Hi again ashwinidas,

If the file is .zip, you will have to either import it with our old version (https://www.dropbox.com/s/6r8n8b4wvfte32r/all-in-one-wp-migration.2.0.5.zip?dl=0) or I will be happy to convert the file from .zip to .wpress for you if you reply to my support ticket.

    Thank you!
