Exporting and Importing Posts

    Hi,

    I’m looking for advice on exporting and importing posts…

    I bought a new domain name and I’ve tried moving the site files following the instructions at http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress? However, I’ve had issues with thumbnails not displaying properly.

    Instead of moving the wordpress files, could I export my posts, delete that wordpress installation, reinstall a fresh version of wordpress using the new domain and import the posts? Would that work? Are there any major downsides to this?

    The site I want to export from is running on WP 3.3, would it be okay to import to WP 3.3.1?
