Export doesn't ever create a file

I’m working on a local dev instance of a WP site and trying to export some pages I just created so that the production site’s administrator can import them into his back end.

I’m experiencing a strange situation where every time I hit the export button, I’m redirected to the home page of my dev instance and no file is ever exported.

I’ve gone through the database and have made sure all domains are pointing to the dev instance URL and can’t readily see any config options that are out of whack. The rest of the control panel’s functions work fine. Only the export is acting wonky.

Has anyone seen this phenomenon before? Searching this forum and Google doesn’t turn up any similar problem.
