• Hello –

I suspect the answer to this is simple and I’m just overlooking it. But I need the front page sections to just show an excerpt of the interior page rather than showing the full page content. I’m not trying to make a one-page site. I just want the front page section to show a “teaser” for the related interior pages, perhaps with a “Read More” button or something similar.

I searched the forum and found several articles about using excerpts with links to blog posts, but I’m asking about links to pages, not posts. Is there a way to do that in Twenty Seventeen? Or stated another way, I suppose what I’m asking it this: Can the “featured page” sections on the front page have different content than the interior pages being featured?

    Thanks!

Hey @qplegal, you can use the “read more” feature (icon that looks like a sandwich in the Classic Editor, or the “more” block in the Block Editor) to do this — you can craft your first paragraph to be a teaser for the page, add “read more,” and then write out the rest of your page. Not as ideal as an excerpt, but it should work if you’re okay adjusting your content a little.
