quite great proposal, which is still not noticed us. I have added the feature on our roadmap and it will soon be delivered with a next version. The implementation by WordPress functions should not be the problem.

Are you familair with GitHub? Because you can download the code there (https://github.com/mkrdip/category-posts-widget) and copy it to your plugin folder ([your-wp-installation]/wp-content/plugins/category-posts-widget) to your wordpress installation.

for you too, you can downlaod a implemented feature to overwrite the link. Than use the option “Excerpt ‘more’ text:”. It was a link to the post not only a text. (How to do that see my post above.)

if you download the widget from GitHub you get a new option ‘Allow HTML in excerpt’ in the ‘Post details’ area.
Maybe us have to set the words higher if you use HTML in the text. Please try with a higher number, e.g. +2. (Counting words with HTML can be tricky.)

i have a question, do I have to uninstall the previous plugin and install this new if I could just replace the files?
No. Only copy or replace the old files with the new from GitHub.
after replacing js folder and files cat* disappears my second and third column of the widget and the slideshow, please take a look to see how it looks (looks). I would add that the slideshow and 3 column has nothing to do with “category post”
The other widgets are deleted.
Can replace these?
I replaced the files via FTP and nsatepnie refreshed the page in your browser and disappeared three widgets
The widget code doesn’t matter about that behavior.
Maybe the folder name from the downloaded zip is not the same as your installation? You have adapt it with folder name with came with WP deployment: category-posts.
Then go to your WP admin panel and check what’s going on.

The problem lies in the file cat-posts.php, restore it from the official version of the causes that everything returns to normal

you’re right. There was a bug with multi widget instances, which comes with the newes code. I had fixed it.
I’m looking forward if you use the code from GitHub and use the function “Allow HTML in excerpt” in “Post details” area.
I’m sure it works now after the bugs fixed.

is great, exactly what I meant (links in the text), just plug-in file swapping. Quite on the sidelines it would be nice to have the ability to hide title entries. Thank you again !
