event widget

I would like to display only the events based on the user submitted events.

I have user profile pages that are allowed to enter in events.
Although I would like to view all events as well, I’d like to list ONLY the events they’ve submitted as a widget in the sidebar of their profile.

What would you suggest? Can I filter based on userid? or do I need to use tags or categories…..I’d like to keep it as simple as possible.
