Establishing Administrative rights

    I have established administrative rights with a developer and they are now asking for my Dashboard login credentials.
    “The username and password with which you enter your WordPress dashboard…”

    Should I provide this level of information when and as I understand it, they have access to what they need.

    They are to work on my blog: deleted

    It’s up to you whether you trust them to access your site.
    If you do decide that they need access (you can’t install what they give you or their work is to configure it or something), take a backup before you give them access. Create a new user for them to use (your choice of role), and delete that user as soon as they are done.
