Errors with special german characters ä, ü, ö

Hello,
I tried wp staging on a website, but failed to clone image files with characters like ä, ö and ü, e.g. Küchenarbeitsplatte.jpg. I know that these characters are not fully compatible with Linux, but since there are lots of images the names can not be changed quickly.

Do you have any ideas how to avoid this problem when using your plugin?
