ERROR: Google Drive upload error: Operation timed out after 59999 milliseconds with 0 bytes received (line: 117, file: /home/abt/public_html/xxxxxxxxxxxxx.com/wp-content/plugins/updraftplus/includes/Google/IO/Curl.php)

I am getting the following error across 3 different sites. Back up is on the server but will not load to Google Drive, was happening without any problems until a few days ago.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Hi,

That message indicates that the CURL request is timing out

Could you check with your hosts to see why that is?

    Best Wishes,

    Ashley

Hi, thanks for your quick reply. Here is the response from the hosts:

“I was working on this case earlier and confirm i shut off PHP-FPM for the site in troubleshooting the issue. The reason being that PHP-FPM is memory intensive, and being on a VPS it is not generally recommended. I also adjusted the PHP configuration for max_execution_time, post_max_size, and upload_max_filesize, all of which did not help the issue. I found the following article on the issue and none of the recommendations worked:

    https://updraftplus.com/faqs/what-does-the-error-operation-timed-out-after-number-milliseconds-with-0-bytes-received-mean/

I also read numerous forum posts from other updraftplus users that are experiencing the same issue with uploading to Google drive, most without a resolution. There is nothing blocking connections to Google Drive from your server, and the fact that the logs show authentication is successful leads me to believe this is either an issue with the plugin itself or Google throttling connections to drive. Unfortunately this is not something we can resolve. I would suggest contacting the Updraftplus support team for resolution of this issue.”

The same set up with Dropbox works perfectly. It just seems to be an issue with Google Drive. Shame I have already upgraded my storage there and need to use it.

    Hi,

The error message means that there is no network connectivity in between the site and Google Drive. As such, almost all the things that your hosting provider looked at aren’t relevant. They need to investigate why there’s no network connectivity between the server and Google Drive. If Dropbox works, then that shows that there is network connectivity between the server and Dropbox.

    Best wishes,
    David

Just to be clear: networking connectivity isn’t something that can be fixed by tweaking things within the site. It’s something at the server level.

Hi, thanks for the reply. There is some network connectivity because in the last 5 or so attempts 4 of the 5 backup files did upload, albeit very slowly with many restarts. The plugin file never uploads. However, that error was appearing frequently and the back up never fully completes.

    Hi,

    Apologies for the delay.

Please could you send us a copy of the latest backup log?

The contents will be too long to post here directly, but you can use an online service such as Pastebin, and post the link here.

    Hi,

Many thanks, I just tried to run it again, the first four files uploaded, albeit very slowly and with the same errors. The plugin file always gets stuck and the resumption times become too long to wait for it too finish. It is a simple site and the dropbox upload happens within seconds.

    Here is the latest log:

If you can delete the link after reading it would be appreciated.

    Hi,

    Apologies again for the delay.

I’m afraid that the log is still showing intermittent network issues.
This suggests that there is a networking issue between your site and Google servers specifically.

I’m afraid that you will need to ask your hosts/server admin to investigate, as there is nothing that can be configured on the plugin side to fix this.
