When I click on WP Supercache from the settings menu I get the following error:
Error: Your cache directory () did not exist and couldn’t be created by the web server. Check permissions.
Cannot continue… fix previous problems and retry.
I looked at the cache directory, it’s there – but I’m not sure what permissions are missing at this point.

Currently the permissions are rwxr-x–x, I tried changing the permissions to 777 to see if that fixes the problem, no joy. I’m still seeing that error.

I’m not sure how to proceed from here.

    Please advise.

Uninstall, manual clean of cache, and deleted WP Super Cache entries in .htaccess solved the problem.
