    Hello, i installed the last version 3.3.2 of WP and trying to create my site. I have a problem about the media library. I want to upload images to the site but i can’t. It says “Error saving media attachment”. I tried the follolowing ways but no result;

1- There was no “uploads” folder and i manually created it.
2- Changed the file permissions first 755 and then 777.
3- I tried the flash and the browser file uploaders.
4- I created custom folder and wrote it down on the settings>media
5- I tried to attach image while writing a post, it firstly said no uploads folder and i created it, then tried again and it said can’t transfer the file to the folder

    Is there any idea?
    Thanks in advance

After changing the uploads folder permissions to 777 can you double check that the changes were applied?

It is not the first time I’ve seen someone changing such permissions and then hosting providers change them back again to their default. Although 755 should suffice.

There was no “uploads” folder and i manually created it.

Remove that uploads folder. It is essential that WP creates the folder itself.

esmi it doesn’t create the folder i tried it, it says there is no uploads folder.

Johnb81 I checked the permissions and there is no problem

As Esmi is saying, WordPress should create such folder for you. So first I would check why WordPress is not creating such folder in the first place.

Try changing the permissions on the wp-content directory to 766. If you still have problems, try 767, 775 or 777. Once your uploads are working, change the permissions on wp-content back to 755 again and check that everything still works OK.

Esmi i tried what you said, 767 worked, i managed to upload images but i can’t see the “uploads” folder with filezilla (FTP). And when i changed to 755 it turned to the old problem. And also i wanted to add photo to a post, i added but couldn’t see it on my site.

i can’t see the “uploads” folder with filezilla (FTP).

You need to change the permissions on the wp-content directory.

Yeah i did exactly what you said, i changed the wp-content permission but after the change i looked inside the wp-content folder but there was no uploads folder. No uploads folder is created, but amazingly i can upload pics via the wp admin screen but i can’t see the pics via FTP :s

    That doesn’t matter initially.

You need to contact your hosts about the FTP issue.
