    I am running the most recent wordpress version with a custom wordpress theme called “blend”. Every time I try to upload a picture (regardless of file size or dimension)I get this error.

    I have my permissions set to 755, and manually created the “upLoads” folder within the wp-content file. It was not already there, I also went to the media setting and put the upload file path in as the default (leading to the uploads folder) but have found no change.

    That’s exactly what I didn’t want you to do. The idea was to try to get WordPress to create the uploads folder so that it had the right ownership/permissions needed for your server.

    do I have to keep it set to 777, since it is not secure.

    In theory, no. Try dropping wp-content down to 755 again and check that your uploads still work.

    You just use the dropdown in the right sidebar near the top of this thread. But I’ve done that for you. 🙂

    This may be resolved for you all, but I’m new to this and getting the same error (Error saving media attachment) when I try to upload pics. I have tried all of the suggestions above including trying to get WP to create the upload file – it didn’t. So I created it in the wp-content folder, tried again, and it still didn’t work. I’m at a loss as to how to get pics uploaded. Please let me know what else to try!!
