• Hi! I’ve been using the Google SMTP plugin on WordPress for months and it’s worked perfectly. Recently, it began throwing this error:

Uncaught exception ‘Google_Auth_Exception’ with message ‘Error refreshing the OAuth2 token, message: ‘{ “error” : “unauthorized_client”

I searched the support forum and found a few threads about this problem, but I wasn’t able to solve it. I tried deleting the project in Google Developer console, and creating a new one, but that didn’t work.

Here is the output from the Server Info tab:

    OS: Linux reseller2.verticalswitch.com 2.6.32-642.3.1.el6.x86_64 #1 SMP Tue Jul 12 18:30:56 UTC 2016 x86_64
    PHP version: 5.6.24
    WordPress version: 4.5.6
    WordPress multisite: No
    openssl: Available
    allow_url_fopen: Enabled
    stream_socket_client: Available
    fsockopen: Available

Any help you can give would be appreciated, thanks.

Thanks for the quick reply! I found this document and tried to follow the steps listed under Fresh Authorization / Removing Access From the Application. When I click the Account Settings link and look at the “Apps Connected to your account”, the app I created is not there.

Is there something I can do to add it to the account? The documents say that a window will open so that I can grant permission to the app, but that hasn’t happened. Can I trigger it somehow? Can I manually give permission to the app?

    thank you

That means the app, whose client ID and secret ID you specified in the settings, doesn’t exist. Did you actually update the details in the settings after creating a new app? Did you only create a project (with no app) when you reset the last time?
