• not quite sure of my version as i cant get into my log in pages of my sites..

i have major issues…..i am getting error messages parse or syntax that look like this and each one is different.

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting ‘]’ in /home/jpaff/public_html/wp-admin/custom-background.php on line 429

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/jpaff/public_html/sixpackforever.com/wp-includes/user.php on line 1319

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_IF in /home/jpaff/public_html/ezysportsbet.com/wp-includes/load.php on line 484

NOW these are just some of the erros…..last week i did a re install of windows vista it went well was done by a tech and is now working fine….sites were all good the other day…no viruses or anything….yesterday i went to check one of my money making sites and i got those errors, i then checked all 18 sites and its the same…i called hostgator they re installed some different themes and i subsequently lost a lot of my custom work i had done…..i have noticed that when i remove the wp-admin in the browser the site then loads and shows up….unfortunately some sites have been ruined but last night everything was working and loading and today its back to how it was with the errors…..on some of the sites if i try to change the theme i get the error again and im back to square one….i dont know whats happened someone told me to get a php expert but thatcosts money….i think its got something to do with my logging in part as when i remove it i can load the site however i cannot get to a login in screen due to the error ….any ideas i am now losing money as no one is clicking on my sites and my bounce rate is going up an up

  • 1. Reinstalling windows (on your personal computer?) will have no effect upon the files on your server (which are causing the issue).

    2. I would take a backup of your database, and everything in wp-content directories, and wp-config.php files.

    3. The first thing I would try, is to download the latest wordpress. Replace the files on your server (excluding wp-config.php and wp-content directories), with the latest version you downloaded. However – this is not guaranteed to fix your problem, and if you do it wrong you may lose files & data you cannot get back.

I recommend you hire someone who knows what they are doing. Yes, it costs money. But if these sites are important to you, you should get it done right.

sounds so complicated , cant understand what has happened really

The errors suggest that the files on your server have been changed (somehow).
Unfortunately, I can’t tell you how that happened.

It’s possibly a hacking attempt, but very hard to know for sure.

If the sites are a revenue source for you, I’d weigh up the cost/benefit of hiring someone to fix this for you. Unfortunately – I don’t think I can help you any further.

A site like freelancer.com or tweaky.com might be of use to you.
