• I have got my website http://www.tumblendry.co.uk running for over a year. The one who built it is not traceable anymore and now I have got this error: Error establishing a database connection.
I contacted the hosting provider and they said:
We checked the Hosting Manager and have found out that there are no databases setup on the MySQL database manager. You need to setup a database to get the website up and running. You need to login to the Hosting Manager to setup the database.

    And now?
Is there anyone who might want to take a look?
I have got the passwords etc.

    Thanks,

    Michael

I have zipped and downloaded the whole directory tree from the root. Checked it on my pc after downloading and it looks all files are there. I am now going to start the wp installation script.

It says success, so how successful will that be, I am now going to check the website and see.

Hello World, same as when I started to program C 30 years ago.

I can see that the original wp directories and files are in the public_html directory, not in the root or under wp-admin. I might need to change the directory during installation?

You won’t need to move anything. The hosting should be exactly the same, you’ve simply connected a new database. Log in to the new site and switch to your original theme that should still be there. If many of your templates have hard coded elements, they should still be present.

I can only see 3 themes, none of them is the one that looks the same as before. On the bottom, it mentions a broken theme with no name, only saying style sheet is missing.
Anyone who wants to give it a try?

Kindly activate twentyeleven theme, that theme was customized earlier, I guess.

twentyeleven is the one currently activated already unfortunately.
Apart from the theme, why do I see no content?

I already told earlier, WordPress stores content in database. That was on your developers’ database.

Well, that then was probably the end of my web site.
I will try to get in contact again with my developer and see from there,

    thanks for your help,

    Michael
