You may want to check your database credentials with your hosting provider.
Thanks RichardWPG. I finally ended up performing an uninstall/reinstall and now all is well with the world.
Thank you nevertheless.
One thing I found on a wordpress.com post with this error that helped me realize what I needed to do:
In MySQL database in Cpanel, make sure to click add user on the database page and make sure they have full access to the database.
Hi Im currently seeing the same message “Error establishing a database connection” when i go to my domain (www.pokermedley.com)
Ive been using Godaddy shared hosting and recently moved to the Virtual Dedicated Server. Ive done everything that was instructed:
1. downloaded files and uploaded them to my new server
2. restored mysql database
3. Changed connection strings in wp-config.php file
I have tried so many things and my site has been offline for many days now.
I am using Plesk control panel
Possibilities:
1. Currently my Database hostname is “localhost”, godaddy support confirms this is correct, but maybe its wrong?
2. in the phpmyadmin there is a message at the bottom: Your PHP MySQL library version 5.0.90 differs from your MySQL server version 5.5.20. This may cause unpredictable behavior.
3. I uploaded too many files? in the godaddy instructions they say only to upload wp-content folder but I uploaded everything…
4. Shall I delete all the other files that are in the File Manager (the ones that I did not upload)?
Please help, any suggestions are welcomed.
Thank you very much in advance.
