The installation of Google Analytics in Google Site Kit produces the following error message:

Error: {“error”:{“code”:403,”message”:”The caller does not have permission”,”status”:”PERMISSION_DENIED”}} (Please try again.)

What is this, and how can I overcome it?
    Thanks for help.

Thanks for reaching out @juerg1962. Based on the error you’re facing, I suspect you may be using a Google Workspace email and Google Analytics may not be enabled within the permissions. If you’d like to share the following we can confirm this or determine more, and provide you with the steps to ensure you no longer encounter this error:

    1. At what stage do you see this error? ie. Are you seeing this as a console error, or when performing a particular action?
    2. Are you using a standard Google account or a did you set up or connect one of the modules within Site Kit using a Google Workspace email?

Let me know if you have any questions with the above. Thank you.

    Hello James,
    Thanks for your reply.
It is not a workspace e-mail. It is a normal privat e-mail
It is the account of my client:

    Bettina xcxxxxxxx
    xxxxxxxxx@gmail.com

I tried to install and activate Google Analytics directly in the account via “Messung starten” / “start measuring”, as it is a first time installation.
I use “wandelreich.de” for Account, Property and Web stream.
Right at the very end of the process I always receive “Internet error: versuchen sie es später” eg internet error: try again later.

In Site kit it is the 403 error

I have no idea what is going on.

Thanks for the update @juerg1962. Given you’re not a Workspace user, please share the following and we can hopefully determine the cause and ensure you can use Site Kit as expected:

    1. Your Site Health information. You can use this form to share privately if preferred.
    2. When checking the Site Kit dashboard from a Chrome browser incognito window does the same occur? If so, please share any browser console errors that appear.  This can help indicate a browser or caching related block.
    3. When selecting a different Google Analytics account or property, as you able to complete setup?

Let me know if you have any questions with the above.

    Hello James,
thanks for your help. With regard to your suggestions, I tried all that.
I will open a new Google Account with an E-mail dedicated to de wandelreich.de domain.
I then reinstall Google Site kit. I think, that will do the trick.

    Best

Thanks for the update @juerg1962. You shouldn’t have to create a new Google account to complete set up. I was more curious whether you can proceed with another Google account. Were you able to proceed without error using another Google account?

If the same also did occur in an incognito mode session, can you share if you’re able to complete Site Kit set up using this disposable WordPress site with Site Kit preinstalled? Please use the same Google account which you’re having issues with. This will help indicated a possible third party plugin or host related issue that you were/are facing.

With the old account, I was going round in circles. Nothing worked.
Incognito in Google Crome and Firefox did not do the trick.
All google accounts closed. Exept the connection with Site Kit.
Not able to open a account and set-up of Analytics directly in the Google Account.
    Nothing worked.
I just did not have the time to play around any more.

A new google account did the trick. Site kit is up and running.

Appreciate the update @juerg1962, and glad to hear that a different Google account did the trick. The only thing I can think of is a setting with your old Google account, maybe not allowing some third party access.

If you do decide to use the former Google account, we can reopen this support topic anytime and then perform some additional troubleshooting checks. Otherwise, best of luck with your site, and you know where to find us should you have any further queries. Thank you.
