Hi! I have configured the plugin but I can’t get it to grant permission to google. Above is the diagnostic test. Thanks!

Error authenticating with this Client ID.

Are you sure that’s the full error message? Sounds kind of generic.

I went through your tutorial on getting the client ID from google, then when I went to grant access to google in wordpress it says:
Error authenticating with this Client ID. []
You have configured OAuth 2.0 authentication, but have not received permission to use it. Grant permission with Google.

When I do the connectivity test, I get this:
    Port Port 25 Port 443* Port 465 Port 587
Outbound to Internet Closed Closed Closed Closed
Service Available No 🔒 HTTPS No No
    ID – googleapis.com – –
    STARTTLS – – – –
    Auth None – – – –
    Login – – – –
    Plain – – – –
    CRAM-MD5 – – – –
    OAuth 2.0 – – – –
    * Port 443 tests against googleapis.com, not the SMTP hostname you enter.
    Summary:

✅ 🔒 Port 443 can be used to send Gmail with the Gmail API.
❌ No outbound route between this site and the Internet on Port 25.
❌ No outbound route between this site and the Internet on Port 465.
❌ No outbound route between this site and the Internet on Port 587.
A port with Service Available “No” indicates one or more of these issues:

Your web host has placed a firewall between this site and the Internet
The SMTP hostname is wrong or the mail server does not provide service on this port
Your PHP configuration is preventing outbound connections
Your WordPress configuration is preventing outbound connections

I’m new to wordpress so this is all new to me. Does this help?

    I see.

    Well this is very odd

Error authenticating with this Client ID. []

You don’t have an error message inside the brackets.

Also, it says Outbound to Internet Closed for port 443, yet it says you connected to port googleapis.com? that’s also odd.

I think you have a firewall problem. Like this guy: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/error-when-authenticating-through-gmail?replies=11

If you want me to help you narrow it down further, please install the Debug plugin, enable WP_LOG_DEBUG, try the grant again and send me the log file.
