    I’m very new to wordpress.

I’m using the wordpress theme twentyeleven.

No matter how I try to add an image (media) to a page or a post, I get the following error message:

“Unable to create directory D:\Hosting\8811390\html/wp-content/uploads/2012/01. Is its parent directory writable by the server?”

What am I doing wrong? What do I need to change?

  • Uploads folder permissions needs to be writable try change to 777 and change 755 once you get to upload images.

My uploads folder is located at:

    wp-content/uploads

Is that the right location? Or is the uploads folder supposed to be in the “theme” folder?

I have changed the permissions using my ftp client. Same error occurs.

That is the right location as if you change theme in future you would still have theme images.

Thanks – it’s not working but I’m going to go back in and take another look.
