Error 404 on category archive pages

Hello,
I have a site with both articles (in a blog) and pages. I’m using the Yoast SEO plugin (version 2.3.4) and some other plugins. This site is using the polylang plugin to have the site both in English and in French.
The problem is I have some 404 errors in archive category pages in the blog part. The weird thing is that this is only happening in the English part of the site.
To temporarily fix this problem, I just have to save a category without even modifying something. To get back the 404 errors, I have to deactivate then activate the Yoast SEO plugin, or just changing an option is enough.
I found a lot of posts of people encountering this problem. I tried all fixes :

But I never got the problem fully solved. The only thing that really solves the problem is to put back the ‘/category’ in the link but we removed it to get some nice link and we can not put it back.
Anyone already got this problem and found a solution not listed in this post?
