    Hello.
If you delete comments that the plug-in marked as spam, then they disappear from the admin panel, but entries about them remain in the database WordPress (table wp_commentmeta), and you can only delete them phpmyadmin.
Tell me, is it planned to fix this shortcoming in the future?

Hi there! The Akismet plugin includes a daily scheduled event that should delete any comment meta information older than 15 days. Can you double check that cron jobs are successfully running on your WordPress site?

    Hello.
I checked that there are no similar tasks. I can look again, tell me the name of the task.
PS It’s about the database, not just the folder in the interface.

Hmm, if that task isn’t running that’s probably the reason as that’s responsible for removing comment metadata from the database table. The name of the event is “akismet_scheduled_delete”.

Can you confirm which version of the Akismet plugin you’re running? Also, is the plugin currently activated?

    Thanks!

No. there is no such task.
Yes, activated. The version is the latest, 4.0.2.
Can the problem in the settings, in the mode selection? I have activated:
    Automatically reject obvious spam, …
    but there is another, below:
Always put in the spam folder …
    and under it a note:
“Messages in the spam folder older than 15 days are automatically deleted.”
    Just 15 days.
Or should the task work in any mode?

Thanks for looking into that. Very strange that it’s not running even when activated and the latest version. Would you mind reaching out to us directly through our support system?

That way we can exchange some more details without posting them publicly. Hopefully we can get to the bottom of it.

    Hi there,

This is just to let you know that the latest version of the Akismet plugin now has a special cleanup job for those.

    See https://blog.akismet.com/2018/02/19/version-4-0-3-of-the-akismet-wordpress-plugin-is-now-available/

    This is good news.
Thank you for hearing and making edits. One of these days I will update and check the database.

The screenshot before the update and the screenshot after updating the plugin – no change. I look at the list of crowns – nothing was added, everything is as before (as well as the contents of the above table).
Alas, the update did not solve the problem.
    How to be?
