Enable Media Replace and Meta data

When I used Enable Media Replace on a bunch of images, I only wanted the file name changed for the image. But it wiped out or replaced the Attachment Page and Meda Data info I had entered for each image. Is that a known problem? Now I have to re-enter the Alt Text, Title, Caption, and Description fields.
