I hope I can explain my need so that someone can make a suggestion.

My blog (though not like a typical blog) will contains posts that are more like questions for readers, and the real content will be in the reader comments/answers to each post. Therefore the comments (or snippets of comments) should be visible. Do I need a particular template, or is this something I can do with any template?

You can style the comments in any template. By default, comments are displayed in a file called comments.php.

It comes with the package. Check the many different WordPress Themes available and visit the pages that feature comments on the test site to see how they look. If you have a specific layout and design in mind, you can style your comments any way you want. We have an article coming soon in the WordPress Lessons in the official documentation site for WordPress at http://codex.wordpress.org, but until then, there is a lot of information on styling comments on this forum and on the Internet by other helpful WordPress users.

OS42 With Theme Viewer – Look at the VERY top of the page to switch themes.
