Since I updated my site to Sermon Browser version 0.45.17 the videos on new sermons have not been working. The videos are on Vimeo and added with the embed/shortcode option.

When I add a sermon (including the Embed Code) and save the sermon it will get rid of the embed code for the video. If I try to add it back it will just disappear again. The videos on sermons added before the upgrade will still work as long as I do not update them again.

When I go back in to edit the sermon it still shows that I had an “embed or shortcode” but it it blank. You can also see with this sermon: http://gospelchurch.org.au/resources/sermons/?sermon_id=114 that there is an extra space below the Audio where the video is meant to be.

It is not coming up with any error messages.

I have Sermon Browser on one other site but it does not use the video / embed feature.

    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • I have the same problem as Paul since the recent update with embedded YouTube shortcode not being saved.
Is it possible to rollback the update?
    Any help would be appreciated

I’m sorry this has broken. I increased the security settings in 0.45.16, and it looks like that’s stopped the shortcodes working. I’ll try and release a fix this week.

This should be fixed in the latest version (0.45.18).

Thank you for your prompt response Mark.
I am sorry to report that I have updated to 0.45.18 but sermon browser still does not save the shortcode.

Thank you for the response and the plugin update Mark but, as Douglas said, it still does not appear to be working.

Mark, are you aware that the “Add Topic” and “Add Reply” buttons on the Sermon Browser Forum are not working? The only way to say something on the Forum would be to quote someone as that automatically opens up the reply box. However the Captcha is also not completable so you can’t submit the reply.

Douglas, as a temporary fix you could put the video embed code in the Description area like I have done on this sermon: http://test.gospelchurch.org.au/resources/sermons/?sermon_id=115.

Paul, thank you for your suggestion – it works and the only difference I can see is that it places the video above the sound.
    This is much appreciated

Apologies that the update didn’t work. I believe it was fixed for shortcodes, but not for iframes.

The good news is that an update will be available later today which will fix the problem for iframes, too.

As a workaround in the meantime you can use one of the following:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dwmMpnus4LY

    [embed width=640 height=360]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dwmMpnus4LY[/embed]

This will work for all video sites that support oEmbed. There’s a list of such sites here: https://codex.wordpress.org/Embeds, and it includes both Vimeo and YouTube.

In fact, this new method is probably simpler than the old one, so you may prefer to switch to it. (The old method will continue to be supported once I release the next update.)

Mark, for some reason the workaround does not work on my website. However, the update has proved successful and our YouTube video is correctly displayed.
    Thank you for your ministry

Thanks Mark for your quick responses. Everything is working fine for me now.
