Embedded videos from Vimeo – error

    On 28 of my webpages all manually embedded Vimeo videos now show the message: “Sorry. We’re having a little trouble.
    I found out that it is because WordPress strips some of the HTML-code.

    I have tried to update one of the pages where the videos showed the same error – and they work (for now). I found the editable embed code in Vimeo for each video and changed it in the source code on my webpage. It is time consuming.

    Here is an example of a code – when it did not work anymore:
    <iframe width=”247″ height=”440″ src=”https://player.vimeo.com/video/496580465&#8243; frameborder=”0″ allow=”autoplay; fullscreen” allowfullscreen=”allowfullscreen”></iframe>

    and the code I replaced it with:
    <iframe src=”https://player.vimeo.com/video/496580465?h=f2c677a4b3&amp;badge=0&amp;autopause=0&amp;player_id=0&amp;app_id=58479&#8243; width=”247″ height=”440″ frameborder=”0″ allow=”autoplay; fullscreen; picture-in-picture; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; web-share” referrerpolicy=”strict-origin-when-cross-origin” title=”Mobilisering”></iframe>

    I found some explanations online saying that WordPress strips some code, and that I maybe should not put in a embed code manually, but just copy the URL of the video into the text editor. I use the classic editor.

    When I do this I am not able to edit the size of the videos – and I think they get very big when just copying video URLs in to the text editor. You can find two examples on this pagewhere I fixed the codes manually AND tried to just copy the URLs of a vertical and a horizontal video.
    I think that the horizontal video is way too big.

    Should I continue editing the 28 webpages manually? Or will the embed code get stripped again so that I have to start all over?
    For now I looks as if my Vimeo videos on some of my many other pages still work. But maybe their embed codes will also get stripped in the future?

    What should I do?

    Should I just copy video URL’s directly in to my text editor – and accept larger videos? Or is there somehow another way around this so that my embedded videos can keep the size I like?

    If the new embed code stays unchanged after you save the page, you shouldn’t have to keep updating it again. You can check this by switching to the Text editor after saving and confirming the iframe hasnt been modified.

    The quetsion now would be – does the updated embed code remain the same after you save the page, or do you see WordPress “changing” it?

    It looks as if the iframe has not been modified.

    But I have a lot of code to edit on a lot of pages – I found a lot of other examples on my blogposts and on my webpages.

    How can I be sure that I do not have to do it all over again?
