Good question. Where this really gets used is when people are CCing the Postie address and other people reply.
You can simulate this by replying to the original email you sent. Effectively Postie removes the “re:” and tries to match the subject line to an existing post.

This seems to work well except if there is a custom post type identifier (eg cars//) in the subject line representing post type though correct ?

That is correct. I’ve added that to the list of things to fix. It is somewhat complicated to fix so it may not happen very soon.

Hi,
Maybe I’m being slow (!?) but what is the workflow around ‘Email replies become comments.’ ?
So, I create a new post via email and get an email confirmation of such. What ‘reply’ is this statement talking about in order to generate a comment on the newly created post ?
If it is a reply to the ‘Post created successfully’ email confirmation, then this assumes we use the from address as the one created for the purpose of email posting ? In other words, use that email address as the site email address in settings.
AM I missing something ? (great plugin btw)
