Email Notifications Stopped with 1.1
-
I made a test comment before posting this and just found it in my spam folder (notifications before the 1.1 update had been arriving in my inbox). Sorry for the clutter.
Hi moleman,
Thanks for reporting this. Are you able to re-test after checking the ‘Disable Notification’ tick box when editing the notification, saving, then unpicking it again and saving and let me know the outcome?
I disabled the notification, re-enabled it, made a test comment and received the comment notification by email in my spam folder. My userbase is small so I can request them to mark these comment notifications as Not Spam until they’re e-mail services/clients learn to accept them into their inbox, but it may be a problem for others.
Instead of opening a new thread, I’d like to mention that it seems HTML formatting is still being stripped from [comment_content]. Line breaks are, at least.
Thanks voltronik for all your help. Love the plugin.
So I’ve been receiving the notifications in my spam folder but one other user claims to have not received any… Notification is set to send to Authors and Editors. My Editor account received it, his Author account apparently didn’t. I’m going to check with another Author and see if they’ve received any of these notifications in their spam folder.
Hi moleman,
Thanks for continuing to test this.Do you have SPF and DKIM enabled on your domain? It might be worth doing this to reduce the chances of any emails being marked as SPAM.
Additionally, it’s worth those that haven’t received anything to check their email queue at their host incase it’s been caught in a SPAM filter there instead. It’s usually then possible to whitelist an email address or domain so that it doesn’t happen int he future.I’ll mark the
[comment_content]issue as a bug and will fix it for the next release.I don’t know what happened but everything is working on my end now. Users are receiving comments in their inbox and html is preserved with
[comment_content]. I didn’t update anything since your response. I can only say that the first comment notification the users successfully received was made on the Edit Post page from the dashboard and now all comments are arriving in the appropriate inbox. Not sure if that had anything to do with it, I can’t imagine how, but just wanted to mention it and let you know that[comment_content]and notifications are working fine now. Thanks for your help.Hi moleman,
Strange, but pleased it’s now all working for you.
If you like the plugin, please feel free to leave an honest review about it.
Any other problems, just let me know. Thanks,
Jack

Hi,
Since upgrading to 1.1 my email notifications haven’t been sent out. I didn’t change any settings and just reviewed that they were still set. I only have one and it’s for new comments. No emails are being sent out when new comments are posted.
Did I change some setting and forget, or did this break with the new version?
(No longer receiving warnings when submitting new posts, which is great.)
Thanks
