Editing page ends in blank /post.php

I am editing a page. When I hit the update button I end up on a blank page
/wp-admin/post.php
nothing else happens. I have to navigate back to dashboard or somewhere else. My edits are not saved.

I tried to edit in firefox and chrome, same in both.
I tried clearing browser cache, nothing happens
