Okay, I had jumped in on this thread a couple of weeks ago. The guy was having a problem editing posts in his new WP 2.1 installation. I was interested in this thread because, after upgrading from 2.0.7 to 2.1, I was having the same problem – I couldn’t edit some posts. The answer to that guy’s problem was (as pointed out by Moshu) the “framebuster” plugin, so it was resolved.

However, this resolution did not work for me, as I do not have this plugin (in fact, that thread was the first I’d ever heard of it).

My issue is very random. I had only *one* post that I could not edit – all I wanted to do was change the category it was in. I let it go, because it was simply the one post, and I couldn’t find anything that I had done differently in that post than I had in any other – I figured it was a fluke.

However, now it’s doing it again – this time in a new post. Now it’s a doozie of an error though.

I had created the post, and decided I wanted to add more content to it. So I edited the post by clicking “Save and continue editing”. Instead of returning me to the editing screen in my admin panel, it took me to the archived post on the public site with no changes having been made (this is exactly what it did to the other post, the one I can’t change the category with).

I decided “screw it”, and copied the entire post. Then I deleted the post. Then I wrote a *new* post, and pasted the stuff into the post content area. I clicked “publish” – and I’ll be damned if I wasn’t taken to the home page of my public site – new post *not* added in.

It seems that simply because the content is repeated, it will not publish the post as a new one.

I’ve tried renaming it, changing the categories I’ve put it in, even logging out, shutting down my computer, rebooting, logging back in and doing it again – nothing. It will not post at all.

This is too weird to be a coincidence or a fluke – I think it’s actually some kind of bug or something, but I cannot, for the life of me, figure out what’s triggering it. It’s so random.

If anyone has any insight to this at all, I’d really appreciate any ideas. In the meantime, I’m going to try shutting off all the plugins, and maybe even editing the content a bit to see if it’ll accept the post. I’ll report back.

[EDIT] Okay – deactivated my plugins (all three – Akismet, Bad Behavior and Show/Hide content – still not posting. I’ve edited the content just a teensy bit – still won’t post it.

Interesting update – it seems when I put “CC:” in my post, it performed this error.

For the record, the post is about email addresses – which is why I had that in my post. I changed it to “cc’d” and it seems to work fine.

So now I’m wondering if there’s something in the posting field that prevents this type of input in forms to prevent form injection? It seems odd to do this, though – I can understand if it was a form in a public are of the site – but within the admin panel?

I’m off to check and see if the other post has something similar – and that’s why I can’t edit it…

[EDIT] nope – there’s nothing like that in the other post.

    This is all very odd!

ill bet your seeing mod_security at work, and somehow the proper header isnt being returned (which would tip you off to the problem).

does your host have mod_security installed?

I’m also having problems editing posts. Everytime I press either of the save options the following warning appears: “Are you sure you want to navigate away from this page?
The changes you’ve made may be lost if you navigate away from this page…”

    Please help

Look at that whooami – right there it is. Yep, I *do* have mod-security enabled. Wow.

It’s not like adding “CC:” is going to affect a whole lot, I just thought it was utterly weird. And there you have it – nice to know though!

Now, if I could just figure out the other post..

I will say though that eventually, the changes to the category *did* change – I tired it again the other day and for some reason, it finally stuck. I have no idea why – but eventually it did.

And Missjoi – you shouldn’t hijack threads – you should start your own, especially when your symptoms aren’t related to the thread you’re reading. Or better yet, try searching for your answer before posting the question.
