• Hi there,

I use WordPress 2.7.1 and am trying to edit the template.php file (wp-admin/includes/template.php)
Every time I try to edit the file, all the “save-functions” lose their function to save; for example to save pages, to save after user edits and so on.
What happens is that WordPress loads /wp-admin/page.php as a completely white screen. Just white.
Is it impossible to edit the template.php file?

    Best regards,
    Jowiii

Why are you trying to edit the template.php file? You shouldn’t edit core WordPress files.

If it’s impossible I cannot tell, but it’s not wise to edit the files in the base, because all changes would be overwritten when you upgrade your wordpress installation (which you should really do, btw).

    Thanks for answer.

    1. I want to edit the text in the help-dropdown-menu.
Anybody knows if it is possible?

    2. I know about the upgrade. I will try if it is possible in some way. If not i will keep using 2.7.1.

My next thought was to open a thread with the question:
“What is the downsides if you dont upgrade your wp”

I will do that now – but i would still gladly receive a solution on this topic 🙂

What “help dropdown menu” are you talking about?

Why don’t you use the localization features instead?

The dropdown in the top of the page on the controlpanel site / frontpage. Under the text “Howdy *name*”.

    The localization features?

I will look at your answers tomorrow.

Nice with such a fast reply.
