• I recently upgraded my site to WordPress 4.0.1 and with the new installation, I cannot use the “Quick Edit” link on the All Posts page in the admin area. I also cannot use any of the editing features in the “Publish” box on the Edit Post page.

I’ve tried deactivating all of the plugins and that didn’t help and I’ve also tried reinstalling WordPress – also didn’t help. I even downloaded a plugin to search for errors in the database and none were found.

Any ideas on how I can begin editing the date/time/publishing status of my posts again? Thanks.

Have you tried clearing your browser’s cache? Have you tried a different browser?

Hi Jose – yes, I tried both of those and neither helped. Also, I allowed my hosting company’s tech team access to the admin area and they ran into the same issue on their computers (I don’t know where they’re located).

How did you re-install? Dashboard? Have you tried manually via FTP?

I re-installed both with the dashboard and when that didn’t help I did it manually via FTP and that didn’t help.

Did you find a solution? I’m struggling with the same problem now. Quick edit is not popping any additional markup / is not working at all.

Hi Surykat – my hosting company’s tech team traced the problem to something to do with my current theme, which I custom designed. Apparently, the new version of WordPress doesn’t play nice with custom made designs that have worked with prior versions of the system. Since there’s no telling which of my edits to the theme is causing the problem, my alternative now is to retrofit a new theme with my current design. That’ll be a tremendous pain in the neck, but it is what it is, I guess.

This problem was fixed with the 4.1 update.
