    Two problems:
    1) Some of my older posts I cannot edit. When I try to the edit page is blank.
    2) Searching support forum shows dozens of similar issues, all of them unsolved, and many of them five years old. I have spent 40 minutes going through the forums trying this and that, and no resolution. It would be nice if we could search the forum by date. That way I could only search just for the last year or last six months. I doubt I will find a solution from posts five years ago. The forum issue is more frustrating than my original problem.

Yes, I have deactivated all plugins and reactivated, and perform all the other standard options. Still blank pages.

    The theme is Hellish Simplicity.
I use it on another site and it works great, no issues.
If anyone has a recent solution I would appreciate it.
    Thanks.

Did you try by changing the Theme. It can be a problem with the ‘Hellish Simplicity‘ or something must be wrong somewhere. If you confirm that would be great.

I just tried ‘Hellish Simplicity‘ without any issue. Did you add any code in your functions.php file? You can turn on the debug mode in wp-config.php.

Thanks for the suggestions. No, I have not added anything to functions.php. I tried another theme, Twenty-Fifteen and the same issue exists. However, something must have changed somewhere. I also have odd characters in some of the older posts. question mark in black where spaces should be, Not sure if these are related.

    Appreciate any other suggestions,
    Thanks

I have a site like this. Very old posts that are not encoded UTF-8 do not show up in the edit screen like you describe. They also don’t display characters like quotation marks or apostrophes, etc.

If I need to edit these posts I just copy all the text from the public facing page into the editor and it’s all good from then on.

I think there is a way to update the whole database at once, but I’ve been too nervous to try this.

I did the same thong and it seemed to work. But I have over 1,200 posts. There is a way to do this globally? A plugin?

thanks for replying, I appreciate it.
