• Hey again, I’m wonder if there is a way I can add “sections” to my site while retaining the layout stuff… Like what I want to do is be able to create pages and keep the look consistent, but it seems like I’d have to make a separate page and copy all the code in it and just remove the code for the posts. Which wouldn’t really be useful since whenever I wanted to change the images on the index page I would have to do the same on the other pages.. Is there an easier way to do this? Thanks a lot

  • Use the <!–nextpage–> tag whenever you want a new page. Also, there is a button in the post editor “n-page” … that will insert the tag for you too.
BTW: I just tried it out… it works.

I don’t think that’s what jkeller is talking about, TG. I think he’s saying he wants to know how to do a site with different sections/pages that don’t contain a ‘posts’, all with the same layout, which he can administrate with WP. (A site with stuff other than categories/archives pages, in other words.)

On my site (geek ramblings), I did this by moving all of the “sidebar” content into a separate php file, and including it into my templates. And in my ‘menu.php’ file, I just do a require_once('/home/dougal.public_html/wp-config.php'); to prime the pump on pages other than the main one.
Actually, I use includes for some other common things, too. Like a file for my stylesheet link tags, one for any javascripts, one for any special meta tags, etc. Then, as you said, just remove the blog loop to create a basic page template.
