• Hi there,

I wanted to double check that I wont lose any important data when I sweep ‘Duplicated Post Meta’ and ‘Unused Terms’.

What exactly does ‘Duplicated Post Meta’ mean? Will a single bit of post meta remain or will all of that meta be removed?

Re ‘Unused Terms’, there are many thousands of them, but again I’m not sure what these refer to specifically. There seem to be a lot of phrases and words listed as ‘Unused Terms’ that would have been positioned inside the content.. but why would these count as terms? I know things like plugins complicate sites, but it would be good to have more clarification as to what these unused terms actually refer to and how they are identified in the database.

I’m hoping these are all harmless and safe to remove. I’m sure removing the many thousands of records will speed up my database a lot, but I’m reluctant to take the risk..

    Thanks in advance,
    Matt

Duplicated Post Meta means, for example, you have the term meta “views” twice. So when you go to the edit page, you will see the meta twice under the custom fields. So sometimes you will get that due to race condition.

Unused Terms means the terms has been created but not assigned to post. For example, if you create a new tag or category and no post has been assigned to it, it is counted as unused.

I would recommend duplicating your env (including your data) to a staging env then use the plugin and see if it works after that.
