Hi @juandyb,
Thanks for the report. We were able to reproduce it, and the duplicate is created by NextGEN Gallery, not SEOPress.
When you use “Set NextGEN featured image” in the block editor, NextGEN stores the image ID in a post meta (ngg_post_thumbnail). On each save that includes post meta, it re-runs its import into the Media Library. It should detect that the image was already imported, but that check never finds it, so it creates a new copy every time.
SEOPress saves its fields (SEO title, meta description, etc.) as post meta through the block editor. As a result, editing any SEO field and saving sends that NextGEN meta again, which triggers the duplicate. Yoast saves its fields differently, which is why you never saw it before. Any other plugin that saves post meta in the block editor would trigger the same thing.
The fix needs to happen in NextGEN Gallery.
In the meantime, the simplest workaround is to set featured images with the standard “Set featured image” button (Media Library) instead of the NextGEN one.
Hi,
I have send this post-thread to Imagely support. But I want to mention that with Yoast I didn’t have this similar issue.
I have seen it when I have started using SeoPress and first I seen the issue that when editing the SEO box properties sometimes the post tittle was deleted, this was solved in 10.2; but the featured image issue seems that persist.
With regards,
