    Hi,
We have a wordpress website for lost and found cats for the countries Belgium(95%)and Netherlands-borders(5%).
Only Belgian/Dutch people post missing cats to the website.

However we get hundreds of thousand IP attacks/requests from all over the world. All other countries are blocked.
Our server is drowning under these attacks, resulting in slow acces and downtimes, so people can’t report missing cats half of the time.

How can we found out who’s hacking our website, or who can help in finding whoever doing this.
We’ve heard about ‘Ethic hackers’ who can solve or trace ‘bad hackers’
or what can we do ourselves?

    Please help wanted.

    Hi,

Did you install the plugin and block other countries than Belgium and The Netherlands from the frontend?

    Hi,
Yes I did. All countries are blocked on the frontend and the backend, except Belgium and Netherlands.

There are blocks from searchengines (obviously) from china, Russia,… but also A LOT of regular IP adresses.
Our service provider says there are a lot of attacks on the server itself too. about 70.000 per day.

    regards

In that case I assume your logging is filled up with visitors that are blocked. That is the best you can do as this is as light weight as possible you can reject visitors.

70.000 hits for a server per day is not that much however.
