Dropdown menus not working with screen readers

    I’m liking the flexibility of the Neve theme but I have discovered a problem with accessibility when there are dropdown submenus present on a site.

    The theme puts a button after the top-level link to open the submenu. It can be operated successfully with mouse and keyboard, but the button seemingly cannot be operated when you are using a screen reader.

    The button to open the submenu can be reached and it announces as you’d expect but when trying to action the button nothing happens and the submenu does not appear.

    I have tried this with NVDA screen reader on a Windows PC in Chrome and Firefox, and also using Talkback on an Android tablet.

    Is there something I’m missing here?
