    Thank you so much for the follow up and staying with me through this obscure debug journey.

    I upgraded my cloud server to PHP 8.2 and then realized that my cloud provider inexplicably had forced WordPress to continue to run on 8.1. Once I pushed this change to my WP instance, everything started to work!

    Investigating backwards on what possibly went wrong on 8.1 revealed that for whatever reason that particular 8.1 version installed the plugin incompletely. Example : the directory vendor/psr was missing. I think this explains the very strange symptoms I encountered. Fortunately the version switch fixed these issues.
