First of all, thank you for building this plugin. It’s really useful, and we’re using it for WordCamp Philippines for our profile frame generator. We’d like to report an issue we encountered with the Download button in iPhone. The problem seems to occur only on iPhone devices. We tested it on multiple iPhone models and across different browsers (Safari and Chrome), but the result is the same every time. After generating the frame, the Download button gets stuck in the loading state and never completes the download. The image is not saved to the device.

    Here’s what we tested:

    • Multiple iPhone models
    • Safari/Chrome on iPhone
    • Different network connections

The issue appears to be consistent across all of them. Please let us know if there’s anything we can test or any additional information we can provide. We’d be happy to help troubleshoot. Thanks again for creating this plugin and for making it available to the community!

    Hi @jhimross

Thanks for trying out the Social Profile Frame Generator plugin and for opening the support thread.

As I don’t have an iPhone available to test this on my end, I have asked a few of my friends (who have iPhone) to test it and confirm whether the issue also persists on their iPhones. I will get back to you once I have more information from them.

Got the confirmation from my frnd who have iPhone that the issue persists after testing. It occured as the download click event is fired on an anchor attribute and the iOS frequently ignores synthetic click event on detached elements, or opens the resource instead of downloading it. So the download was not working on the iPhone devices. A patch is rolled out with version 2.1.7, however as due to the Protect The Shire limitation the update will be available on the WordPress plugin page mostly after 6 hours from now. Thanks for reporting the issue to make the plugin better.

Could you please update to version 2.1.7 to test the download again and let me know if the issue persists?

Hi @josevarghese I manually downloaded version 2.1.7 from your SVN commit, and it works. Thank you!
