    Hi Vinny,

First, I want to thank you again for an incredible plugin, and your ongoing work to ensure proper functionality.

The issue I am having started about a month ago. When a moderator posts a new topic on the forum’s front end, users receive single notification e-mails just fine. When a moderator approves a topic posted by another user, through the admin page, users receive single notification e-mails just fine. However, when a moderator approves a topic posted by another user, on the forum’s front-end, two copies of the notification e-mails go out to everyone.

Do you know what may be causing the issue? We use Easy WP SMTP and sending a test message did not indicate any errors (I also only received one test e-mail).

    Thanks,
    James

Friendly bump. Apologies if that is against protocol.

    Hi James,

Sorry for the delay. I’ve been on vacation for the past 10 days with limited email access and saw your message but then lost it in the hundreds of messages I got over the period. Thanks for the bump, though.

Can you install WP Email Logging (there are a couple, either one is fine) plugin to keep a record of the outgoing emails while debugging? I need to know if the messages are exactly the same – I doubt they are.

I suspect that one of the messages is the default core message sent by bbPress which bbpnns is supposed to suppress and is likely not catching a certain scenario. Another possibility is that you have some other notification plugin installed that’s triggering the extra message. bbpnns would definitely not know about it and would likely miss suppressing it.

Can you provide the list of plugins you have installed, and also a copy of the duplicate messages?

    Cheers,
    Vinny

    Hi Vinny,

Thank you very much for getting back to me! I know you are busy, so the bump was just in case it got lost in the mail (happens to me too!).

I have a big project this week, so it will likely be next week when I get back to you with the info you have requested.

    Thanks,
    James

    Hi Vinny,

We are using Easy WP SMTP. I have enabled the debug log within that plugin. Will that suffice, or is there a different plugin you would prefer we use?

    Thanks,
    James

    Hi James,

I’m not familiar with that plugin. If it captures all outgoing messages and also provides the headers, then it should be fine. Otherwise, there are a couple of plugins called WP Email Log (or WP Email Logging) that do the job.

    Cheers,
    Vinny

    Hi Vinny,

I have turned on the logs, and see them successfully recording e-mails being sent from our website. Since turning on the logs, I have been approving all of the message board posts via the admin dashboard page–except for the last one. I approved it through the front-end and it generated the duplicates. I have saved the logs into a .txt file. I can either send you the logs or create a temp admin login for our website. Please let me know which you would prefer. Thanks again for taking time to look at this!

    Very Respectfully,
    James

    Hi James,

I found a scenario where some people would get duplicate emails – one from bbpnns and one from bbPress Core. It’s been addressed in v2.1. Please give it a try. If you’re still having trouble, please open a new topic.

    Cheers,
    Vinny

Thank you Vinny! I did notice that the duplicate e-mails disappeared after your recent update. However, now bbpnns is not sending notification e-mails when a moderator (or keymaster) approves a new topic held for moderation on the front end of BBPress. Notification e-mails work just fine when approving them on the back-end (dashboard).
