Where did you upload the child theme’s folder to? wp-content/themes?
thank you for your response.)))
yes:
wp-content
themes
index.php
twentyeleven
twentyeleven-child
functions.php
screenshot.png
style.css
twentyten
i use MAC. could this be a problem?
Are all those files (functions.php, index.php, etc) in the themes folder?
There should be no actual files in there, just folders.
In your themes folder you should have:
twentyeleven
twentyeleven-child
twentyten
That’s all
index.php, functions.php, screenshot.png, style.css should all be INSIDE the child theme’s folder
Just upload the whole twentyeleven-child folder to wp-content/themes.
my themes folder has:
index.php
twentyeleven
twentyeleven-child
twentyten
Then you will be able to see the Twenty Eleven Child theme in Appearance->Themes.
yeah, but I don’t see it :((((((( should I restart the computer of something? How it should look like?
the only available theme is twenty ten 1.2
this is where both folders (twentyeleven and child) are:
/Users/mashasherman/Downloads/wordpress/wp-content/themes
That’s on your computer. Are you running WordPress locally or on a remote server? What is your site url?
Hm….. I am very very beginner in all this. I am working on my MAC at home.

You need to upload the child theme to your remote hosting account.
What does it mean? How do I do that???
