Domain Registration and WordPress
-
I first started using WordPress last year. I registered at iPage who also hosted my blog. Early this year, I decided to switch to HostGator because I like paying per month rather than in a lump sum. Even though HostGator is the host, the domain is still registered with iPage. Since making this change, it’s not been the seamless experience I’ve had during the previous year. To start, any updates in content I make do not show up immediately as they did when I was being hosted by iPage. It takes up to 24 hours before I see any changes I make (for example, if I make a spelling error and correct it). And no matter how many times I’ve tried, Jetpack won’t connect to my Dashboard.
I’ve been back and forth between iPage and HostGator this morning, each rep telling me that I need to talk to a rep of the other company to get my issues resolved. The last HostGator rep I had a chat with directed me to the WordPress forums to find an answer for my situation. In particular seeing immediate updates when I change content on my blog.
My question is, will having everything under one roof, that is to say, transferring my domain to HostGator and having them as host, help resolve my issues. I know the Jetpack issue is likely unrelated and will have to be dealt with by other means. But I would like to see immediate updates to content and not have to wait until the next day.
Will transferring the domain help, or is there some other issue at work?
Thanks.
