    Hi,
Sorry if this seems like a stupid question but I am investigating a daily CPU spike and was wondering if Yoast performs any kind a daily scan at a set time.
    Thanks for your response.

  • Could be related to sitemap generation, as reported here:

If you are encountering an issue with high resource usage from the plugin, can you please go to SEO->Dashboard->Features and disable the Text Link Counter feature to check if this could be causing the CPU usage spike? We have a guide on this at the following link: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/enable-disable-link-count/

Hi, thanks for the replies. Can you tell me if the text link counter is scheduled to scan the site daily? I have noticed that it was selected for a few other domains on the server. I have deselected the option on all domains and will let you know tomorrow if there is a change.

I also see there is a new update which fixes a bug relating to high cpu when using object caching. I imagine this would happen at any time and not a specific time of the day every day.

    Hi,

While we are not sure if the issue is resolved, the text link counter scans for links and updates them when it detects a change.

We also released a new version of Yoast v11.0. Please update to it and see if the issues you are having resolve.

Hi, thanks for all your replies. This problem was being caused by my host. I finally moved to another and the problem disappeared. My advice to anyone is avoid Hostgator!!
