    when I create a backup and save as a file, is the sql database also in the backup?

    Yes, your database/sql is in the backup.

    A question on the database inclusion in the backup.
    Are user defined tables that i create in the database exported as well?

    Only if they have the wpdb->prefix (the default one is wp_)
