• I’m a little confused — in the free version, it says that it doesn’t back up “non WP files”. What does that mean? Does that mean my page content and blog posts won’t be backed up with the free version, and just my themes and plugins will be backed up?

    Hi,

    Apologies for the confusion.

“Non WP files” are files that are not are part of the WordPress install. This could be a custom folder/file or anything within your server.

Yes, it includes your content. Normally, UpdraftPlus creates backup archive of everything in WordPress’s content directory: all the database, plugins, uploads, themes, etc. that you need to restore your site (when you’ve got a fresh install of WordPress).

Sorry @bcrodua — I guess I’m still a little confused. When you say “Yes, it includes your content.” Do you mean that the free version of updraft makes a backup of your content?

    Hi,

Sorry for the delay, this seems to have gotten lost in the forum.

The free version backups up your database (which includes your posts and content)

It also backups your themes, plugins, uploads and anything else found inside wp-content.

The free version does not backup files outside of the wp-content directory.

    Best Wishes,

    Ashley
