Support » Themes and Templates » Does the child theme automatically replicate the parent?

  • Hi all,

I’m running WordPress v3.91 and WP-E-commerce v 3.8.11 using the TwentyTen theme. Our site has been up for abut 3 years now. As far as I am aware no child themes were created when we first setup the site and there are no -child folders in the them folder.

I want to upgrade my WP-E-commerce installation and also update the installed themes. I’ve created a child-theme folder for /twentyten-child and uploaded a style.css as described in the WordPress Howto.

However my current menu screens are all re-arranged and not displaying as they do without using the new child theme. As a result I’m unwilling to go forward to another theme. My assumption was that the child theme would look just like the parent, and that I could modify the child if wanted.

    What have I missed?

    Thanks for any help!
