No. This is 100% not normal. I’ve never had ot do that on any site that I’ve managed over the years.
What sort of errors do you get after you upgrade? I’m asking because there must be something going wrong that’s promting you to do something with the plugins.
The plugins simply do not work, and are not even in the dashboard menu. No errors. I use the automatic update system. It updates fine. Yet the plugins are gone.
I try to reinstall them, but cannot as the folder already exists for each plugin. So i manually delete the plugins via ftp then resintall via the add plugin option in the dashboard.
Did you disable the plugins before updating wordpress?
No, that’s not a requirement either, but in the old days it helped.
What plugin’s are you currently using? I’m willing to bet there’s just one bad plugin in the bunch that’s just crashing and taking everyone with it after each update.
As catacaustic mentioned, what you’re describing should never happen.
I was using jetpack, all in one seo, askimet. The rest I cannot recall as have deleted them!
thanks for the help folks. At least I know for next time that it shouldnt be happening, so before I update wp in the future I will pop by.
I am grateful for the swift and useful assistance.
Perhaps one of the ones I mentioned caused the problem?
Well, I use Jetpack and Akismet without problems. I can’t speak specifically for All in One SEO, but I have never heard this problem mentioned in relation to it.
Hopefully it was one of the removed plugins. 🙂
