    Hi,

I have a WordPress 5.2.1 installation in a webserver. I am using the FileBird plugin to have WP Media Library more organized into folders etc, but this question is not related to that plugin.

Some of my users have a custom role called i.e. “uploaders” who’s main job is to upload and manage the Media Library. When these persons access the library and for example view and image file, the preview of the image is shown and of course in the List or Grid view, a thumbnail is shown.

The problem: with for example PDF files or Word document files, the person has to download the file to their computer be able to preview it.
I was searching for any plugin or solution to be able to preview document files directly in the Media library backend, but did not find anything, so I’m turning to the community.

Does anyone have any solution or know of any plugin that enables users to preview document files (.pdf, .doc etc) in the “Attachment Details” page (for example: example.com/wp-admin/upload.php?item=1234)? Currently, when I click on document like that, the Attachment Details modular opens, but just the WordPress default “document.png” is shown in the middle.
I know there is a possibility to create a separate page for each attachment manually and then enable some kind of “embed document” plugin – however that is not what I’m looking for. I’m looking for preview capability in Media library backend.

    With best regards,
    Henri
